TRIUMPH TIGER SPORT 660 REVEALED

Triumph Motorcycles is continuing to build its range of mid-sized capacity offerings with the reveal of the all-new Tiger Sport

660 . As the name suggests , the new Tiger Sport 660 enters the range as the baby brother to the existing Tiger Sport 1050 and utilises the same powerplant as the recently released Trident . Styling is based on that of the larger capacity Tiger Sport with a few modern updates with the 660 set to give Triumph a solid all-rounder in the middleweight segment . Unlike the more popular Tiger adventure models , the Tiger Sport 660 rolls on 17-inch rims front and rear , shod with Michelin ’ s excellent Road 5 tyres . Keeping the rubber in contact with the road is Showa suspension at both ends , with the rear monoshock sporting a dual-rate spring to optimise performance for solo or pillion riding as well as remote hydraulic preload adjustment . Based around the same 660cc DOHC inline-3 as the Trident , the Tiger Sport 660 will also only be introduced into the New Zealand market as a LAMS spec bike . That means power figures of 56.3hp and 62Nm of torque rather than the 81hp and 64Nm of the full power machines overseas - which might be disappointing for some who were hoping for the full-fat model . While pricing for the Tiger Sport 660 will be released closer to the time of launch , UK pricing is set at £ 8450 which would see the bike somewhere in the region of $ 15,000 . For reference , the Trident 660 on which it is based rides off at $ 13,790 . That doesn ’ t mean that the Tiger Sport 660 isn ’ t an attractive package for experienced riders , however . With quality Nissin brakes , Showa suspension , a large 17-litre fuel tank with a claimed range of 380km plus the latest tech
