don ’ t remember there being a hand preload adjuster on the anniversary model . After a quick ride to gather my thoughts , I turned the preload adjuster down to zero and added about half a turn more rebound damping . The rebound adjuster is stepless in adjustment and was only about one turn out from full hard as delivered . Increasing rebound damping will also give a little more compression damping too . This is
because the adjuster works by restricting oil flow down the middle of the shock shaft . This oil bypasses the piston , so it affects the oil flow both ways and thus adjusts both the rebound and compression damping to a certain degree . Suspension control was improved by these adjustments , but ride comfort still left a tad to be desired . In fairness , the back roads where I mostly ride are quite testing for any suspension , with poor surfaces and some awful bumps too , but an improved shim stack in the
