Braking is achieved through a disc on each front wheel , both of which have two forks ( perhaps to support all that weight ). ABS and traction control are de rigueur but pulling on the front left lever activates both front and rear braking , and the effort can be felt through either hand as one brakes with the other .
THE PAY OFF It is over uneven ground that the excellent front geometry pays off . I rode up and down and over conflicting road humps and even grassy banks to test it out , and the front tracked true and without a hint of weight in the handlebars or wavering off line . Big it may be , but there ’ s magic under that front coaming . I suspect the early three wheelers were advanced for control on the wet and uneven cobbled surfaces of inner-city European laneways , but they have since continued development as confidence-inspiring additions for those with less experience , and even those whose leg strength and swiftness is not what it once was . I don ’ t believe Yamaha built this bike for current motorcycle or scooter riders . The finish of the Tricity is slick and attractive , with a designer gun-metal grey and black finish topped off with touches of chrome . Visibility is good and lighting works well and is very bright . I found the controls and switching easy to use and , unlike a recent test , I was able to fill the tank with simplicity .
