Daytona 200 . For manufacturers the race meant exposure to the huge American and world markets . Success at Daytona would be the perfect financial spring board for the CB750 , and for the popularity of fourcylinder motorcycles in general . Initially Honda management were not interested in giving full factory support for an entry into the 1970 Daytona 200 , but management changed their mind , and fully factory race kitted machines were entered . The result was a victory for Dick Mann in what was then one of the most prestigious road races in the world . The Honda CB750 was the first Japanese bike , in the 33-year history of the event , to win the Daytona 200 . The Honda CB750 belongs to an elite group of motorcycles that changed the way things were done .
