MINIGP ON A ROLL

W e now have a clear picture of how the newly formed MiniGP for youth riders will run in its inaugural season , however , the rules and regulations essentially cut New Zealand from any chance at the newly formed competition . Designed to formalise the entry rung to the path to MotoGP for riders between 10 and 14 years old , the MiniGP series is a joint effort between the FIM and Dorna Sports ( the folks behind MotoGP ) and brings competitions from around the world under the same umbrella . Each competition in the Series adheres to the same set of sporting and technical regulations in order to standardise competition . MiniGP Cups or competitions wishing to be included as part of the new Series and thereby gain “ Road to MotoGP ” status can be either national in nature or representing a larger geographical area at a regional or continental level according to the guidelines set out by Dorna and the FIM . The top three riders in each national , regional or continental 2021 competition will be invited to compete in the World Final in Valencia ahead of the Gran Premio Motul de la Comunitat Valenciana . The winner of the World Final , subject to age and location / nationality , will secure a spot in one of the Road To MotoGP programmes on the next rung of their career ladder .
