KIWI RIDER JUNE 2021 VOL2 | Page 38

for a wet ride as it appeared the rain was set in for the day . From Havelock we made our way out to French Pass ready to catch our barge , but unfortunately it was not going happen , gale force northerly winds were hammering the boat ramp and had even knocked a boat from its mooring and slammed it against the boat ramp . This was a real bummer for the riders . An alternative route for the day was selected where we made our way out to Port Ligar on what became a treacherous road due to the heavy rain , it definitely saw a few riders , including myself , on the ground . The rain hadn ’ t let off and the most technical part of the third day lay ahead as we crossed the Mangatapu track from Rye Valley to Nelson . With rivers and
creeks running high , it was real adventure to finish off the ride and everyone made it through safe and sound without any bikes drowning , which was a relief ! From there it was back to Motueka to finish off with another fantastic meal and a beer to celebrate what had been a wicked three days on great bikes with some great laughs along the way . We will be doing it all again next year , same time of the year , but in a different location , so if you ’ re keen to come along watch out for details via Yamaha ’ s Facebook .
Hopefully we ’ ll see you there .
