The Landspeed New Zealand Association has announced its fourth annual event , which is set to hit Goudies Road in Reporoa on Waitangi Day ( February 6 ). Goudies Road is FIA / FIM approved for NZ Landspeed records , surveyed last year and found to have 2.8 kilometres in the centre to be absolutely flat within 20mm , with deviation over the whole length less than 0.58 %. The road is also wider than typical New Zealand highways which adds a measure of safety to proceedings . The event is for road and race vehicles with the goal to see the fastest cars and Motorcycles in NZ run over the dead straight closed road . Timing is set to be taken care of by FIA / FIM approved Tag Heuer timing equipment with each participant allowed up to eight runs . Timing is recorded in both directions as per FIA rules . This year ’ s event has room for up to 40 participants , with last year ’ s top recorded motorcycle speed being a Kawasaki H2R tripping the beams at 351km / h . This year again , NZ Police is sponsoring a mobile police station for our timing crew , and the local volunteer Crime Patrol is doing the fantastic catering for fundraising . Malcolm Clunie ’ s Motorsport Event Safety Crew will be on hand to provide up to 20 staff to act as rescue crew and marshals , along with a Fire tender with two professional firemen with full extraction gear . Also on hand will be an ambulance with a doctor and a paramedic on board . The event is free for spectators to attend , while to enter and see just how fast your ride can go is $ 450 .
