On Sunday , December 12 , we lost one of the best . Mike Ramsey contributed a tremendous amount to motorcycling in New Zealand for well over 30 years . He was a mentor to many and it is difficult to imagine anyone having a greater passion for motorcycling , and , in particular , off-road bikes . Above all , Mike was a great mate . He will be enormously missed , but always remembered for his generosity , wisdom and sense of humour . Rest In Peace Mike , you are a true legend . MICHAEL BECKHAUS

What we can say will probably appear a bit trite . Needless to say , I bought a chain saw off Mike , when he had MR Motorcycles . It stood me well for probably 30 years before conking

out . I returned it for warranty claim and , sure enough , back it came in perfect working order . Mike was a true gentleman , even if a bit rough around the edges . Loyal to the hilt . Hard working . With a true passion for the industry . They don ’ t make them like him anymore , and probably won ’ t again . I think the whole industry has shed a tear or two including you and me .
