CFMOTO 800MT

The CFMOTO brand has been on the slow burn in Aotearoa for years now , but with a range of visually appealing LAMS models and a strong farm lineup , the Chinese company is taking things to another level with the 800MT adventurer . Quite possibly the best bang-for-buck bike in the entire class , the 800MT will arrive in NZ with a price tag of just $ 13,490 . Powering the bike is a KTM-sourced parallel twin ( from the 790 models ), which is backed by a comprehensive electronics suite , a package that punches far higher than its price tag suggests it should . For your money , you get a 799cc LC8c engine pumping out 95hp / 88Nm with a balanced chassis featuring a 19 / 17 inch wheelset , fully adjustable KYB suspension , Spanish J . Juan radial

brakes and a tubular steel frame . Wet weight is claimed at 225kg with a full 19-litre fuel tank so performance should be good . The 800MT is expected to arrive in New Zealand dealers in the first half of the year and will be available in two variants . The cheaper Sport model comes with alloy wheels and is aimed more at the weekend warrior who primarily sticks to sealed roads . The Touring model goes the whole hog and gains all the extras needed to give the bike some off-road credibility , including the expected spoked rims , alloy bash plate and handguards .
OUTSIDE THE BOX Who ’ s it actually for ? The price-conscious adventurer who wants bang for their buck . The competition : Yamaha Tenere 700 .
