At the low end it ’ s mild and fairly stall resistant , which will easily aid traversing rocks and technical areas while maintaining decent traction . Keep the revs up , let it scream and , no question , it hauls arse and you will be busy shifting gears . However , in this high rpm zone the rider definitely needs his or her game face on , and to be fit . Conversely , the easy-to-ride power delivery is a bonus for farmers and trail riders and the exciting top-end allows developing riders to progressively grow their high rpm horse power skills . I liked the chassis , suspension and brakes a lot . The suspension is excellent in all regards for an enduro bike . It ’ s very comfortable riding , has great control and with decent bottoming resistance . It steers very well with accuracy and confidence and only felt a little “ loose ”
at high speed … mainly down to the plush suspension . However , particularly for an enduro machine , accuracy in turns is paramount over high-speed stability . Braking performance is top shelf , both front and rear have great power and feel . Looking hard for a down side to the Yamaha WR 250F all I can say is this - it ’ s still a large bike physically , although certainly improved in recent years with a lower rear sub-frame and general ergonomic fine tuning . And the induction noise bugs me , but only until I re-adjust again . All-in-all , it ’ s a class machine .
WR450F The WR450 is also a class act . It ’ s very easy to ride , being comfortable yet highly capable and , in general , makes long days in the saddle enjoyable and rewarding . Best of all is it does all this
