BMW F700GS

M y love affair with bikes started when I was 18 and living in the UK . In those days it was a question of mobility and affordability . A bike was the first transport most young people could afford to buy , something that isn ’ t so nowadays .

PICKED UP THE BIKE BUG Fast forward 20 years to New Zealand where I picked up the bug again . John , my husband , was then working for BMW Motorrad , the motorcycle department of BMW , so getting a bike to ride became easy , without having to fork out the money to actually own one . I was helping out with test rides and running bikes in for launches and the like . And so I naturally became something of a fan of the BMW brand . My first bike in NZ
was the single cylinder Funduro , perfect for my early forays into adventure riding , with the BMW Safaris organised by John . Not only did we get to travel the length and breadth of NZ , but I also got to experience the thrill of speed and acceleration . I am and always will be a road rider at heart , I only took up adventure riding so I wouldn ’ t be left behind !
BMW FAN I have stayed with the BMW brand , even after BMW NZ gave up on motorcycles . As the F650 has moved through its various iterations , so I have grown with it . At one point I even had a Dakar or two , absolutely loved it , but it proved too tall even with a low seat . It was also a bit unwieldy ( when it was loaded up with full panniers ) for me to easily set off from
