things like that... I heard those words used by a
devoted electricity exponent the... other day.
Well, yes, I’m reasonably well thank you. I’m on
my third beverage for the day and feel dine
and dandy. Well, the other day I watched the
“lockdown” MotoGP and was quite delighted
to see Mr Rossi pick up a third place on the
rostrum... to a Simon and Garfunkel song (the
Sounds of Silence). And I was equally delighted
to see emergence of a chap who starred in an
Eagles song...New Kid in Town.
This young French chap who has given Yamaha
plenty of reasons to smile. In fact, there were
Yamahas everywhere in those opening two
MotoGPs which were staged before a throng
of mask-wearing pit crews, stewards and track
marshals. And... no crowds.
No madness and hijinks and delight from what
would have been a fine contingent of French
enthusiasts as they celebrated the arrival of a
fast new kid... from their European neighbourhood.
It was heartening, but it kind of felt flat and
weary...which under these dodgy present
circumstances is understandable. But hey,
crowds or no crowds, at least we still have it.
It is carved to pieces in terms of what it used
to be but, veering toward what a great chap by
the name of Clint Eastwood once said (and not
a few days ago) “It’ll be back!”
Just as long as they nail this Compost 91 viral
nuisance in snappy time.
Crikey, as time goes by things change. Engines
change. Propulsion changes. I change my
underpants regularly. For my doctor said to me...
the other day... hygiene is everything. Mind you,
we were talking in a bar at the time and when his
wife Jean arrived to take him home he greeted
her with a chirpy “Hi Jean!” Oh how we laughed.
So yeah... MotoGP is on the same edge as F1
and the American race car series which our lad
Scott Dixon is again making his mark. No crowds,
and a slightly duller spark... but they are still
there, and that is everything.
This time next year all will be well, literally. For I
heard some clinical expert laboratory chap say
the vaccine is nearing the starting gate.
I heard it the other day.
