OUR BIKES
PUTTING THE KILOMETRES IN So far I have completed a number of well-known adventure tracks and trails around NZ ; listeners of Kiwi Rider Podcast will have heard those stories before . Over Christmas , I joined the rest of the KR team for the 42nd Traverse and Fishers track . On the way up to National park for that ride I also rode the Forgotten World Highway . Then in late January , Mat Day-Gillett and I headed to the South Island for Port Underwood , Taylors Pass , Awatere Valley , The Molesworth , Jollies Pass , Rainbow Road , Maungatapu Track and Queen Charlotte Drive . Since then , the T700 has carried me over to the Wairarapa and retraced the GS
Rallye NZ 2020 route , as well as exploring the Akatarawa and Mangakotuku Valley trails ( usually only frequented by trial and enduro riders ). The T700 is now closing in on 10,000km , all on the original factory Perelli tyres . I don ’ t regret upgrading to the T700 in the slightest . It ’ s a brilliant bike on road , and makes me look OK off road . I can ride 500-1000km over the weekend on a mix of terrains , and then get up on Monday morning and commute to work with ease . I ’ ve just fitted a set of Mitas E07 + tyres , which will give me more grip on the off-seal stuff , and by the time you read this I ’ ll have tested them out at the Triumph Tiger Adventure Ride in Raglan . I ’ ll let you know how we get one .
