team and must’ve been hoping that he’d hit the ground running in 2020 because no one likes to be shown up by their team mates. Round 1 of World Superbikes 2020 was what we’d been waiting for. Edge of the seat, nail biting racing between riders who had to extract everything they had to offer from themselves and their bikes. And this was all before Covid-19 threw a huge viral spanner in the works. You’ve seen the results and hopefully you’ve seen the races (if not, hunt them down and watch them with that time on your 50 KIWI RIDER hands), so you’ll know that Lowes, Razgat, Rea, Redding are capable of winning races and neither Rea or any other rider is likely to walk away with the series. Then the lights went out. The question now is whether there will even be a complete series this year given that we’re probably looking at a six month shutdown. Of course, in the context of Covid-19 a race bike series isn’t that important and we’ll just have to be patient and see what happens over the next few months. Hopefully when things start to roll again, the series will pick up right where it left off at Phillip Island.
