KIWI RIDER 03 2019 VOL.1 | Page 46

I think the Honda’s right in the mix with the CB300R and offers another good option, especially for those new to motorcycling and looking for a light and sporty urban mount that’s both easy and fun to ride On the road this little thumper winds up very nicely and is surprisingly quick to achieve open road speeds. The six-speed transmission is typically Honda-slick and the engine torquey for its modest displacement. Owners buying the bike primarily for the urban commute should also plan for weekend highway rides as it will hold 100km/h+ without issue, with reserve for overtaking. I did some of my riding of the 300R on country roads and must admit to having a blast! The sport tyres grip well and the bike felt planted and very flickable in the tight and twisties I 46 KIWI RIDER rode. Although a compact cockpit I could still shift across on the seat and get a good position for the next corner. The suspension, whilst not offering major adjustment, is perfectly suited to the capabilities of the bike and works very well. Having recently ridden a similar offering from the KTM stable, I think the Honda’s right in the mix with the CB300R and offers another good option, especially for those new to motorcycling and looking for a light and sporty urban mount that’s both easy and fun to ride.
