SUZUKI TOPS CHARTS AGAIN IN 2019 F or the second year in a row, the pint-sized Suzuki GSX150F topped the charts yet again with a total of 175 units of the sporty little bike finding homes in Kiwis garages. In total, 6441 new motorcycles joined the fleet in 2019, a slight drop of 41 units when compared to 2018’s sales figures and marking the second year of decline in overall sales since the highpoint of 2017, in which 6538 new bikes joined the fleet. Rounding out the top five best sellers of 2019 was Harley-Davidson’s Street 500 (114), Yamaha’s YZF-R3 (102), Kawasaki’s Ninja 400 (95) and Royal Enfield’s Classic (93). While overall sales were down slightly, thetop five bikes continue the strong trend of the LAMS class dominating new bike sales in New Zealand. In fact, the only bike in the top 10 to not fall within the rules of the learner class being KTM’s high-performance 790 Adventure R, which overtook Suzuki’s DR650 as the best selling bike in the adventure class.
