As soon as I stood on the reef looking
out I remembered why I love this place
so much! It’s like an endless summer
with super friendly people, warm sun and
clean water. There’s so much to do here
if you love the water.
Corralejo has changed. New apartments
and hotels, even a small shopping mall;
but it hasn’t lost its laid back surf town
charm. It seems to have embraced it
with surf shops around every corner.
At this time of year the wind can be
a little hit and miss but it’s worth the
gamble. It paid off for us as we got out
on 13m kites most days. The stretch of
coast between Corralejo and Cotillo is
my favourite place, just so much potential
here for freestyle and waveriding.
Apart from a few spots around Cotillo
lighthouse, you’re not going to see much
sand or beaches, as it’s all lava reef so
some of the spots need care to get in and
out of and not something you should be
attempting if you’re new to kitesurfing.
