It’s a long drive down to Saint Pierre
la Mer so we made it more interesting
by stopping overnight half way down
and staying in an amazing chateau.
We stayed in the turrets and for
dinner we had delicious duck with
potatoes, quiche, salad and apple
tart for pudding. A huge meal - ready
for more driving the next day. When
we could finally see the sea it was
covered in massive white caps. It
was super windy as it was blowing
the transmontana - the offshore
wind.
Before the actual event I did
three days of training with Jean
Giovannoni, head judge for the
competition and also a judge for the
PKRA. There were four of us, me,
fellow Kitepix rider, Kimo, his friend
from Egypt, and Anna and Simon
from Mauritius. It was really helpful
as he showed us how to ride a good
heat and what the different trick
categories were. We practiced our
heats against each other and in the
competition area.

Event time came round quickly and
with only one day of good wind
forecast, they wanted to run all the
age categories in one day with a
single elimination format for the
boys. Thursday night was draw time
and everyone waited to see who
they would be against. The seeding
was taken from last year’s results so
because I didn’t compete last year I
was very unlucky to draw the no 1
seed - Javier, my fellow F-One Next
Generation team mate in the very
first heat of the day! No surprise then
