places that you have never ridden
and that will offer different weather
patterns to what you are used to.
Before my accident I must admit,
I would push myself to the limits.
Riding in conditions that most would
think were out of mine or most other
people’s capabilities. I felt that this
kept me alive, pushing my own and
the sports boundaries to see what
was possible. Which in turn is a
good thing, but doing it safely, at the
right time and in the right situation
is key.
It must have easily hit 40 knots and
kiteloops and even jumping became
quite scary, but the wind settled
again, it had even dropped down
enough to begin unhooking again.
I rode up towards the end of the
lagoon and popped into a transition.
I went up, very quickly, and straight
away I knew something wasn’t right.
