UPDATE 2015

KARIM MAHMOUD - KIMO

A couple of months ago I received my
equipment from my sponsors North
Kiteboarding. I’m now riding on the 2015
Vegas and a 132 team series board with
pop boots.
Over the Christmas school holidays I
had quite a few good wind days and
could spend a lot of time on the water.
I have been playing around with the kite
setup to find what feels best for me. I
prefer flying the kites with the wakestyle
bar, and I find the smaller size really
comfortable. I have also played around a
bit with the Hadlow setup for the kites.
The Vegas is really powerful, but also
holds its position in the air well through
unhooked tricks especially with the small
bar and of course they look awesome!

At the moment I have quite a lot of tricks;
one of my favourites is the double s-bend
to blind, I like the feeling of spinning fast
through the double rotation. I’m training
hard on blind judge, 313 and backmobe;
I’ve landed them all a few times, and
crashed them plenty more! I want to be
able to land these tricks consistently for
the upcoming competitions.
I’m planning to compete as much as I
can in 2015. I’m already registered for
the European Junior Kitesurf Freestyle
Cup in France in April this year, and will
be going to the Seaman race in Hamata,
Kitevillage in March. There are no dates
out from the PKRA yet, but I am hoping
the PKRA junior world championship will
be on again in Summer. These are the big
ones for me this year, but I will also try to
get to as many local events as I can.
