This kitchen offered a unique challenge with a long, narrow space. To make this space as functional as possible, we designed a walk-through kitchen with an island placed in a nook at the end. The island offers added storage, extra work space and a place to entertain while leaving the kitchen feeling bright and airy! - Patricia Noddle, Kitchen Land, www.kitchenland.ca A colorful backsplash is a great way to add personality to a small kitchen! In this kitchen, we used a mix of white and oak cabinetry with a bold patterned tile to create a space that is bright, fun and playful! - Yumi Murayama, www.yuandmedesign.com; Photography by Sophia Hsin Photography, www.sophiahsin.com To stay on budget for this project, we designed the space to fit the homeowner’s existing plumbing and electrical as much as possible. We gave her a cost effective, bright, beautiful kitchen with a beachy, classic vibe. She has a much better functioning pantry, more flow between her living and dining area and a fun, secret door into the pantry hidden in the cabinetry! - Sydney Carlaw, www.puritydesign.ca This Mid-century modern inspired kitchen blends matte black with warm oak for a look that is dramatic yet warm and inviting. The flip up deep storage above the upper cabinets takes advantage of the 10 foot ceilings to provide additional storage and the black stainless steel appliances blend into the cabinetry for a cohesive look. - Daryl Berden, www.ridgewater.ca 54 CANADIANHOMETRENDS.COM
