Sometimes a strategic update is a better way to go! This homeowner wanted a lighter, more functional space on a modest budget. Adding gliding hardware within the cabinets solved the efficiency issue and added extra storage without needing to replace cupboards. Updating the hardware on the existing cabinetry gave the kitchen a more modern look as well. continuity, I selected an undermount sink paired with a black faucet for a modern, clean, and elegant aesthetic. We chose a white marble quartz with a classic white base and deep gray, almost black, veins for the countertops to tie-in the cabinet color and it modernized the kitchen instantly. For the backsplash, a classic, white, beveled edge subway tile offers elegance, simplicity, and plays off the new countertops. By using larger tiles, this kitchen kept its clean lines, but the tapered edge offered elegant detailing. Allowing your appliances to blend into the colors of the kitchen gives the illusion of a larger space because your eye doesn’t bounce to the contrast of the cabinets and appliances. Notice the floating shelves? I removed the closed cabinets to modernize the look. Tiling the wall and adding the natural wood tone creates a more up to date, open look. I really wanted to replace the floor but the cost, timing and mess didn’t warrant it. Instead, I used the shelves, chairs and accessories to tie the floor color into the space. It’s also nice to have an element from nature (wood) to help ground the space and add that organic feel to the design. While shopping, I found a stand mixer in blue that I knew this busy family would love! I chose accent pieces and a floor runner in a coordinating blue to carry the color throughout the space.
