When renovating on a budget, don’t
be too quick to replace! Sometimes a
strategic update is a better way to go!
This homeowner wanted a lighter, more
functional space on a modest budget.
Adding gliding hardware within the cabinets
solved the efficiency issue and added
extra storage without needing to replace
cupboards. Updating the hardware on the
existing cabinetry gave the kitchen a more
modern look as well. continuity, I selected an undermount sink
paired with a black faucet for a modern,
clean, and elegant aesthetic.
We chose a white marble quartz with a
classic white base and deep gray, almost
black, veins for the countertops to tie-in the
cabinet color and it modernized the kitchen
instantly. For the backsplash, a classic, white,
beveled edge subway tile offers elegance,
simplicity, and plays off the new countertops.
By using larger tiles, this kitchen kept its
clean lines, but the tapered edge offered
elegant detailing. Wanting to keep the visual New appliances instantly update the look
and function of a kitchen. A black stainless-
steel kitchen suite kept the continuity
of color in this kitchen. Allowing your
appliances to blend into the colors of the
kitchen gives the illusion of a larger space
because your eye doesn’t bounce to the
contrast of the cabinets and appliances.

We removed a useless cabinet above the old
metal range hood and created a focal point
with a white custom range hood to pull the
color scheme together.
Notice the floating shelves? I removed the
closed cabinets to modernize the look. Tiling
the wall and adding the natural wood tone
creates a more up to date, open look. I really
wanted to replace the floor but the cost,
timing and mess didn’t warrant it. Instead, I
used the shelves, chairs and accessories to tie
the floor color into the space. It’s also nice to
have an element from nature (wood) to help
ground the space and add that organic feel
to the design.
While shopping, I found a stand mixer in
blue that I knew this busy family would love!
I chose accent pieces and a floor runner
in a coordinating blue to carry the color
throughout the space.
