In almost 11 years of marriage , Mandy and I have tackled many projects together- from simple , weekend projects to our most recent cabin build ! ( Catch our new series on TV on Saturdays )
On the home front , we decided it would be a good idea to freshen up our kitchen . Well , one thing led to another and we are now 6 weeks into a complete main floor overhaul ! The layout has been reconfigured , a new lighting plan has been planned out and next up is paint and flooring . Mandy and I loved seeing the gorgeous kitchen designs featured in this issue ( See My Kitchen , My Rules on Page 28 ) and drew a lot of our inspiration from this issue for our new kitchen . We ’ re going with a classic white shaker kitchen with matte black accents and an oversized 8 foot island . We will then continue this aesthetic in our soon-to-be-renovated formal dining room and living room ! It ’ s like a bag of chips ... when you start , you can ’ t have just one ! Word to the wise : If you don ’ t start a renovation with a complete plan in mind , you may find yourself in a complete home overhaul .
This time around , the renovation has been a complete family affair , with our girls now old enough ( or thinking they ’ re old enough !) to give their opinions on Mom and Dad ’ s design choices . Our 7 year old , Ella , is particularly vocal when it comes to anything she deems “ not trendy .” She has all the makings of a great Designer , even at such a young age ! She already has her color scheme and design aesthetic chosen for her soon-tobe renovated bedroom . Oh the fun of spending Mom and Dad ’ s money !
Whether you are knee deep in drywall dust or simply in the dreaming stage of your journey , take a minute to draw some inspiration from our amazing Designers and Builders featured in this issue and enjoy the process !
