Asymmetry is a great design choice for a
modern kitchen, especially when playing with
a mix of organic and non organic materials
and colors. In this kitchen, we balanced the
asymmetrical island by keeping the design by
the windows very symmetrical. - Danielle Degen,

When designing a kitchen, pay attention to the little things like casings,
baseboards and trim work. If your trim is white and your cabinets are
white, make sure you pick a white that complements each other or keep
them consistent. Also consider upgrades you may do in the future and
take that into account when picking out materials and colors. - Lisa Quiring,

If you don’t have a ton of natural light pouring
into your kitchen, don’t let that stop you from
thinking beyond white cabinetry. Working with
light colored cabinets will still work, especially
when paired with a bright and punchy tile
floor or backsplash. - Kendall Ansell, www.kendallansell.com

Work with what you
have like we did in
this kitchen. This desk
area was painted and
updated and the top
cabinet doors were
painted black with
mirrors and a molding
detail added to copy
the stain glass in the
adjoining dining
room. - Jacklynn Little, www.
