Our Professional Tips
Preparing for your shoot
I understand that being photographed is something
that can seem a little intimidating so I want to
reassure you that my goal for your session is for
everyone to arrive and leave happy and relaxed!
When my clients tell me at the end of the shoot that
it was so much more fun than they were expecting
or that they didn’t even feel like they were being
photographed that makes me so happy!
In order to keep the experience stress-‐free for your
children I ask that you not ‘over-‐prep’ them for the
session. Just tell them my name and that you will be
playing at the beach or park and I’ll be coming
along to take some fun photo’s!
Emphasise how much fun it will be and be enthusiastic!
Parents attitudes to the shoot often rub off on the
children, so if you’re happy and excited about it they
will be too! If your children are old enough, get them
involved by having them pick out their outfits with you!
A change of
clothes -‐ be
prepared for accidents.

On the day of your shoot try to avoid rushing
around to much and make sure your children have
had their usual naps and meals. This ensures
everyone arrives feeling well fed, rested and ready
to play and have fun!
Working with children means that during the shoot
there may be a meltdown or tantrum or two and that’s
completely normal! We’ll avoid making a fuss about it
and take breaks whenever we need to. Bring along
some snacks and drinks for the kids and a favourite
toy or game to bring on the smiles!
Quite often the shoot has been organised by Mum, so
Dad may not be quite as on-‐board for photos but
reassure him that I won’t be asking you all to sit there
and pose for long and my focus is capturing your
family in action! Show your husband some of the fun
photos on my website and he’ll get the idea! It’s all
about letting loose and having fun as a family!
Their favorite toy or
game to catch their
attention during a special
shot.
Snacks and water
so no one gets
hungry and thirsty.
