MID MORNING/MIDDAY/MID-‐AFTERNOON LIGHT: Harsher light during the day means more vibrant colours and the brightest greens! We usually shoot these sessions in the shade to avoid uneven lighting. Choosing a Location INDOORS Indoor sessions are most popular with my Newborn clients and for babies under one year of age, I will come to you with everything we will need and there is really no need to take your baby out to a studio. All of the indoor images on my website were taken in my clients own homes! I am able to walk around your home and quickly find the best light to create beautiful, natural lifestyle images that you will treasure for years to come. Shooting in your own space also ensures the colours of your images will work perfectly as wall-‐art for your home! There are few common-‐sense things I require for sessions in your home such as making sure any spaces we might be shooting in are kept as free from clutter as possible. Spaces of the home that I will often shoot in are: living rooms, hallways, bedrooms and nurseries, all depending on where I find the best light is in your home. The best time of day to schedule a session at home is when your home receives the most light! We want to avoid the sun’s rays coming directly into your windows but still have plenty of ambient light. Please be aware indoor sessions may need to be rescheduled on very overcast days due to lack of ambient light. My goal is to create the best images possible for you so I recommend waiting on the right conditions for your photo session. KIRSTYMCKAYPHOTOGRAPHY ON-‐LOCATION A lot of my clients come to me specifically because they love the colours and light I capture in my outdoor images! Shooting outdoors at beaches and parks is so much fun and ensures you and your children have plenty of space to run, play and just be yourselves. LATE AFTERNOON/EARLY EVENING: Also known as the ‘magic’ or ‘golden’ hours. The last two hours before the sun sets provides soft, flattering and warm light for portraits. Sessions during these hours can be held in open spaces, such as on your favourite beach! These images are softer and sweeter than those taken in midday light and promote a feeling of warmth, there is a special glow at this time of day! I offer outdoor sessions all year round. There are the sun-‐kissed beaches and golden fields of Summer, the paastel cherry blossoms and vibrant flowers in the Spring, the fiery reds and oranges of Autumn leaves and the organic, earthy tones of Winter -‐ I just love them all! During our phone consultation we’ll discuss some of my preferred locations but feel free to tell me if you have a favourite place to take your family, I love to discover new places! Keep in mind that every location I use will photograph differently depending on what time of day we are shooting, from sunrise to sunset the light is always changing -‐ just check out the images opposite to see how the light affects your final images! You may find that you prefer the bold, vibrant colours of the midday sun or you may fall for the softer, golden tones and sun-‐flares of the late afternoon and early evening, we’ll schedule your session to capture your preferred light at your chosen location. An overcast sky will also dramatically change the look of your [XY
