Choosing the right kind
of touchscreen can
make the difference
between success or
failure

We’re in the middle of a touchscreen
boom, with research suggesting that
a wide range of industries just can’t
seem to get enough of tactile display
units. The global market, which was
worth just under $5 billion in 2016, is
expected to grow by over 17% every
year to exceed $15 billion by 2023
according to figures published this year
by Reuters.
Pixel power rules
Touchscreen design follows fashions
too. Some ideas barely flicker into
life – and manufacturers are quick to
pull the plug – but other innovations
set the world alight. Over the coming
months, watch out for more interactive
multi-touch displays that allow multiple
users to interact with video walls
simultaneously. Some may even have
optical recognition systems to count
how many people are using them and
to even guess their gender. Other new
ideas include creative installations fixed
to ceilings, floors or on the outside of
