The first retail kiosk (the Florsheim Express Shop) came on the scene in 1984 and enabled customers to browse and purchase shoes from the store. As we continue to move towards a customer-centric revolution that’s increasingly driven by data, businesses are being forced to search for new ways to contain their costs, improve efficiency and harness the customer data they have available to them, which means that kiosks continue to be a popular choice. Another key driver for the future of kiosks is tablet adoption. Consumers are used to working on tablets and smartphones with touch capacity, so in order to be successful providers need to implement solutions that mirror the same kind of interaction. There's much more to creating a bigger touchscreen than simply cutting a larger piece of glass. Enjoy the issue.
