The ChargeBox App
Thanks to the ChargeBox App you
can find your nearest ChargeBox
with ease. Geo-location helps
users find their closest ChargeBox
charging stations based on their
current location. On launch, the
app shows your closest charging
station relative to your position,
alternatively you can use the map
or search bar to find other charging
stations.
you’re done. All you have to do is open
an available locker and attach your
device to the corresponding cable.
Once charging has commenced, and
the system has detected it, the door
can then be locked with a key. We use
a unique smart locking feature (patent
pending) to ensure a simple and secure
service for everyone.
We’re often asked why we use a key
locking system rather than a keypad
like some of our competitors, and the
answer is simple. A traditional key is
more secure than a keypad, especially in
a public place where there’s a possibility
of the code being seen. Another risk is
that by putting security in the hands of
the user, there’s a high chance that many
of the pin codes used will be things like
0000, 1111, 1234 etc. Which means that
criminals could approach the lockers and
attempt these commonly used codes.
And simply by trying them, will have a
worryingly good chance of opening a
locker. We believe keys are the way to
guarantee security. After all, this is the
way we lock and secure our homes.
6. What’s your greatest
achievement?
Delivering free charging at the Westfield
Shopping Centre during the Olympics.
In the first month of the service we
provided over 60,000 free charges. This
was a fantastic result after the incredibly
18 KIOSK solutions
difficult logistical process required to get
the stations up and running.
Westfield Shopping Centre was a
tricky location in terms of installation.
Not only did we only have just two
weeks for overnight teams to install the
stations, we had to build a complete
service including software and hardware.
Our expertise made it possible to deliver
on time, and this was just one successful
project among many in over 35 countries
around the world.
7. What’s next for ChargeBox?
After success in sectors including
shopping centres, stores and
education, we would like to break
down barriers to additional markets to
provide free charging when and where
you need it. We’ve got a long way to go,
but we’re on the right track. Our aim is
to be on every high street and in public
space where you need free
