aybe it has something to do with being an
older child. On the other hand, maybe it’s because I
grew up in the sixties when we believed our generation
would change the world and make it a better place.
Maybe it’s because of the exposure I have had to
various self-help gurus, motivational speakers, and
persuasive ministers. Alternatively, maybe it is
something that all of us are born with---the idea that
somehow, I’m different. I am unique, and my life is
supposed to make a significant impact. Maybe you feel
the same way.
Therefore, we begin with
an effort to make our
mark, to do something
meaningful and to
achieve “success”—
whatever that is, or
however we define it (or
those around us define
it?).
Then life happens with
