Godpreneurs: How They Advance the Kingdom -Ytevia Watts Having the faith to step out and start a business venture is no small undertaking. Those brave souls that venture into the marketplace have some idea of the demand for their products and/or services. After all, your business is to add value to customer’s right; whether it’s Business-to-Business (B2B) or Business-to-Consumer (B2C). But, when those who are called to start businesses work to implement “God-given” initiatives, they understand that their business has a mandate to bring about change. Godpreneurs are kingdom-minded and understand that success in business only exist when they have integrated God. Their goal is focused on “the shift,” shifting to a higher level of productivity in order to turn the world. That’s right… Godpreneurs use their businesses and their gifts to turn God’s people from “Worldly Things” to “Godly Things.” All designed to Advance the Kingdom! So, how do Godpreneurs turn people from “Worldly Things” to “Godly Things” to Advance the Kingdom? • Godpreneurs, Get Their Minds Right! - 1 Peter 1:13 (NIV): Therefore, with minds that are alert and fully sober, set your hope on the grace to be brought to you when Jesus Christ is revealed at his coming. Godpreneurs are aware of their surroundings. When a Godpreneur’s mind is alert, they are always looking and seeking opportunities to advance the work of God. • Godpreneurs, Take Advantage of Opportunities! - Ephesians 5:15-16 (NIV): Be very careful, then, how you live – not as unwise but as wise, 16making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil. In other words, Godpreneurs use time wisely and make the most of every opportunity. • Godpreneurs, Are Solution Driven! - Romans 12:2 (NIV): “Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is— his good, pleasing and perfect will. Godpreneurs, seek the guidance of the Holy Spirit to find creative and innovative ways in their business to provide hope, encouragement and restoration to the world. Their goal is to bring glory to God. They are committed to ensuring that their business clearly displays God’s purpose on earth. No more business as usual for this group; they are trailblazers that influence and increase momentum resulting in life-changing transformations. • Godpreneurs, Focus on Producing Quality! - Matthew 7:16 (NIV): By their fruit you will recognize them. Do people pick grapes from thornbushes, or figs from thistles. Godpreneurs plant or implement their business venture by “God’s grace.” They understand that if the business isn’t producing a product and/or service out of excellence and with a purpose, then they need to exam themselves.
