nourish them. No one else will do that for you.” When the (continued from page 8)
storms of life hit and we feel weary and overwhelmed; it’s easy to shift our dreams to the
sidelines along with a piece of our heart.
If you are overwhelmed by a life storm, here’s a simple tool for keeping you and the
dream in your heart alive. Include a “push goal” in your routine. A personal push goal
is a simple activity that you choose to engage in for one to fifteen minutes or more each
day; activities such as deep breathing, reading, a short walk or hike, listening to music.
It’s unique to you, and your push goal serves to reboot your confidence, balance you,
and restore your sanity. As an entrepreneur, my personal push goal is to leave the office
midday and take a lunch break. I take a book or CD and often go out to lunch or enjoy a
few moments at a local park. This push goal helps me refocus on things that really matter.
It enables me to handle the storms of life with greater competence and peace. How about you? What would your
push goal be?
We began this article with a quote from “overwhelmed” Peanuts comic strip character, Charlie Brown. Charlie
said: “I try to take one day at a time, but lately several days have attacked me at once!” I went back to Charlie and
asked him what he would say to those of us who desire to overcome overwhelm. Here’s his sage answer: “What’s
the good of living if you don’t try a few things? ...I’m only going to dread one day at a time.”
I like Charlie’s advice…get the good out of life by taking a few risks. Then take it one day at a time! Friends, if
you’re facing overwhelm, and want to join a community of like-minded people who desire to become excellent
in Focus— Time— and Energy strategies. I invite you to connect with my “High Mountains” course. It’s fun; it
builds confidence; it keeps you focused, encouraged, and on track to your goals. Get announcements of the next
“High Mountains” course here. (http://goo.gl/mJ28OP) It would be great to see you there.
