Christmas Gathering 2023 Honors Brendan McGuire ’ 90
“ I love this time of year . The Season of Light reminds us that this is also a season of hope . Hope for peace , kindness , and the future .” Dr . O ’ Halloran ’ s welcoming remarks at the 2023 Christmas Gathering of alumni and alumni families preceded the awarding of Alumnus of the Year to Brendan McGuire ’ 90 for his public service in law and government .
Accepting the award from his friend , fellow Saint David ’ s classmate and current parent Peter Sughrue ’ 90 , Brendan expressed gratitude for being back at the school after a number of years and for having been selected for this honor .
“ Awards like these are reflections of the community , rather than the recipient ,” he said , noting that Saint David ’ s encourages graduates to serve , to live a life that is meaningful and beyond oneself . He was also thrilled to see former teachers Tom Ryan , Bill Cantwell , and Pedro Morales . ( See interview with Brendan on page 20 )
