First Choir Debut at Lower School Concert
The fall concert for Lower School featured the debut of Saint David ’ s First Choir , a new performing singing group for boys in Grades Two and Three . The boys sang First Flakes , and were joined by the Lower School Percussion and First Orchestra for a rendition of Believe from Polar Express . To close the concert First Choir and Chamber Singers performed Jambo Rafiki together . The Lower School concert included performances by the Saint David ’ s Philharmonic Ensemble , First Orchestra , Lower School Percussion Ensemble , First Choir , and Chamber Singers .
NYSAIS Decennial Review
Saint David ’ s decennial accreditation review by the New York State Association of Independent Schools ( NYSAIS ) culminated with a threeday onsite visit by the NYSAIS Visiting Committee in October . The visit followed our 18-month comprehensive self-study , led by the Steering Committee : John Dearie ’ 95 ( Chair ), Nora Sundar , and Charlotte Grima , which involved all members of the faculty and staff , as well as community-wide participation by trustees , parents , boys , alumni , and extended community . The committee evaluated the school and its program against specific accreditation criteria and our stated mission . Their feedback was overwhelmingly positive , and the team noted the strong focus on mission , the boys ’ joyful engagement in learning , and the faculty and staff ’ s deep commitment to boys ’ education . In early February , we received notice of full reaccreditation .
