Building a Kind Community
As we reflected on this year ’ s school-wide theme , kindness , Kindergarten , Omega , and First Grade boys in an early fall Community Club session took time to speak about filling our own and each other ’ s “ buckets ;” an analogy that reinforces how everyone has an invisible “ bucket ” that they carry . Boys were provided examples of bucket fillers , individuals who help to fill another person ’ s bucket through kind words or actions while also pointing out the potential harm of being a “ bucket dipper ,” which can occur when words or actions make others feel badly . The boys completed their own buckets , which are proudly displayed in the Graham dining hall .
On Friday , November 3 , boys in Grades Two and Three decorated boxes to be used by the Parents Association for their Graham Windham Hat , Mitten , and Scarf Drive .
The Community Club , under the direction of Inclusion , Diversity , and Community Co-Chairs Jessica Pagan and Pedro Morales , is an early morning club for boys in Grades Kindergarten through Three , who are interested in helping strengthen the Saint David ’ s community . Boys in the club work with eighth grade volunteers , faculty , staff and each other to complete projects and have conversations that reinforce our school mission and build relationships among themselves , their teachers , and other members of our community .
