Look , Imagine , Create
Our second graders commanded the Solomon R . Guggenheim Museum the mornings of December 12 , 13 , and 14 , 2023 , when the boys proudly presented “ Look , Imagine , Create ” – a showcase of their learning and the collages , paintings , drawings , prints , and constructions they created during their fall unit of study through our collaboration with the Museum .
Eight years strong , this collaboration enables our boys to spend their 90-minute weekly art sessions at the museum “ down the block ”
under the guidance of a museum educator and their art teacher , Ms . Melanie Fidler . The boys not only study the architecture of the iconic landmark , but also masterpieces on view in the museum ’ s spiraling ramps and within the Thannhauser Collection . Handson art activities are prompted by guiding questions related to concepts they explored during museum inquiry and are inspired by the works they closely examined .
The boys were thrilled to act as docents when their parents , first graders , and faculty and staff attended the big event !
