Four Health Tips for New Moms
1. Rest when you can. Try to sleep when your baby
sleeps and take naps during the day. Let others
help with the chores or going to the grocery until
you feel more rested or the baby begins sleeping
for longer periods at nights.
2. Boost your immune system. Get a flu shot.
Eat lots of lean proteins, dark greens and
antioxidant-rich foods. Drink plenty of water to
stay hydrated. Wash your hands often, especially
after changing diapers.
3. Avoid dieting. Even if you’re in a hurry to get
back to your original shape, don’t skip meals or
drastically cut back on calories. In fact, if you’re
breastfeeding, eat an additional 500 calories a day.
4. Socialize. New mothers are on duty 24/7. Get out
of the house and see friends or make new ones.
A lot of moms bring their baby and stroller to the
Zoo to walk. It’s a great way to meet other moms
and get some exercise.
