New Community NS Greystones

Naas Community College

September 2015 6

KWETB Chief Executive, Mr. Sean Ashe confirmed in June 2015 that KWETB had been awarded the patronage of the new National School in Greystones.

Since then Principal Rory Kinane was appointed and the temporary location for the school has progressed. The school will be initially housed for the first number of years in Greystones Rugby Club and a permanent location will be sourced in the vicinity.

Greystones Community National School (CNS) opened on the 1st September 2015, to 20 Junior Infant students. This was a historic day for Kildare and Wicklow ETB and indeed the people of Greystones.

The Community National School is a new model of Primary Education and is the second such school along with Naas Community National School under the patronage of KWETB.

Our Community National Schools operate within the regulations laid down by the Department of Education and Skills and follow the primary schools curriculum.

We acknowledge and respect the diversity of values, beliefs, languages and traditions in Irish Society today and welcome children from families of all faiths and none. The CNS operates in the spirit of partnership between the patron, teachers, students, parents and the wider community served by the school.

Go N'éirí on bóthar libh

KWETB wishes to thank the local community, staff, public representatives, the New Schools Establishment Group and the Minister for Education and Skills in supporting our application for patronage.

On Thursday 27th August 2015 Naas Community College opened its doors for the first time. 75 first year students started their second level education on the day. All were warmly welcomed by Principal Ciarán Keegan and staff.

They are currently housed in a temporary location in Craddockstown in Naas with planning applications imminent for a permanent build at Millenium Park, Naas, Co. Kildare. We look forward to updating you on key developments as they arise.

KWETB wishes all the students, school community, staff and their families every success.
