Staff Mobility: Studying Guidance and Enterprise

Lisa Harvey, Sharon Hughes, Angela Glynn, Michelle Keating, Tara Reilly, Denise Walsh, Mary Mooty and Angela Higgins studied the Career Start Programme, Vocational Education and Training, and guidance for young people when transitioning from Comprehensive to Upper Secondary Education. We also visited the hotel, tourism and catering department; transport and logistics; hair and beauty; learned about enterprise education for 16-19 year olds and visited Veturillatit (the Engine House) to hear about integrated models of guidance for young people in Jyvaskyla.

Una Burke, Sean Cryan, Brendan Dunning, Elaine Finnerty, Ray Finucane, Irene Hayden, Stephen Horan, and Michelle Tierney studied integration of Enterprise throughout a large education organisation, visiting the college’s Start-up lounge; training restaurant, horticulture and art departments.

Participants said – the visits were inspiring; provided appetite for change; a source of CPD; affirmed existing practice; caused increased motivation and enthusiasm. High points? The ‘weather forecast’ system for resolving student challenges in Jyvaskyla, and the Start-up Lounge in Norwich. There were lots more!
