On December 8th, 2016 with great enthusiasm and excitement students from Youthreach Leixlip, Dionne Dunworth, James Delaney, Alana Dennehy, Gemma Petts, Hannah Gallagher, Roisin McAvinue and staff member, Sinead Baker ventured to Connolly Luas stop in Dublin City centre.

Luas had partnered up with Inner City Helping Homeless for the Christmas Shoe Box Appeal and Youthreach students dropped off 30 shoeboxes that they collected coming up to Christmas. Their involvement in the shoe box appeal was a result of a student led activity regarding a conversation on how students could help the less fortunate at Christmas.

Other students who played a big part in the shoe book appeal were Kate Daly, Bryan Szekely and Aaron Carroll.

Zeminar at the RDS Dublin

Students and staff from Youthreach Leixlip attended Zeminar at the RDS in Dublin on Thursday, October 13th 2016. They were among the 15-to-20-year-old cohort of Generation Z. The Zeminar developed as a result of research carried out by Jigsaw which showed that anxiety, sleep issues, cyber bullying are just some of the serious problems hampering academic progress and personal development.

Throughout the day Youthreach students and staff attended workshops, attended talks, visited the various stands and engaged in fun activities.

“It was a very enjoyable day and there were lots to see and do. I think it’s a very good idea and it can help young people”.
