St. Kevin's Student Selected for Student Ambassador Role in DCU

Student ambassadors are hired by DCU to give prospective students an insight into life at the university and combine their academic studies with their role as student ambassador at numerous DCU events, on and off campus. James, a former St. Kevin’s Community College pupil, is studying Computer Applications and is also very involved in society life through the DCU Harry Potter Society.

Lauren Quinn Taylor, Student Recruitment Office, DCU said: “Here in DCU we hire a select number of current DCU students every year. They are essentially brand ambassadors for the university and they work at a number of events on and off campus promoting DCU and the courses on offer. The student ambassadors are in a position to give a real insight into life on campus and can talk from experience of academic life, social life, accommodation, support services and so on. The student ambassadors play a hugely valuable role in the promotion of DCU and are a great support and resource for the student recruitment team.”

This is James’ second year working as a student ambassador. Speaking about his position, James said “You get to meet so many people, from academics to prospective students, and represent DCU at so many things from giving campus tours, to helping out at various events. “My two favourite moments this year were firstly, attending a Diplomatic Ball in the Royal Hospital Kilmainham, where I led a group of DCU students who were assisting the running of the Ball, and we got the opportunity to meet various diplomats such as the US Ambassador, and secondly giving a tour of the DCU campus to the Vice President for Academic Affairs of Connecticut University in the US.”
