Patricia Gurhy

John was appointed Course Recruitment Officer for the Training Services Team in January 2017. He is looking forward to working with everyone in KWETB and is excited by the opportunities of this new role. In his position, John will be providing a recruitment and selection service for all training services programmes.

He will also be designing and generating PR materials and strategies to promote our services to key target groups.

Prior to this role, John worked in the Local Enterprise Office Carlow. This position provided him with a wealth of experience in training and course recruitment.

By way of educational background, John completed a MSc in Business Management in 2014. He went on to work in DCU as a Management Teaching Assistant. This role has provided John with lecturing experience in a top university. John is still studying and has a strong belief in upskilling and education.

Patricia Gurhy was appointed as Principal of Scoil Chonglais, Baltinglass on 9th January 2017. Prior to that, she taught in St. Leo’s College, Carlow, where she assumed many leadership roles over the years including Meitheal Liaison Teacher, TY Coordinator, leader of School Development Planning, Deputy Principal and Principal (Acting). She also managed a residential mixed Irish Summer College for Coláiste na bhFiann for many years.

Patricia is passionately interested in leading teaching and learning and believes strongly in the difference education can make in peoples’ lives. As well as exploring various teaching methodologies and current thinking on best practice, she firmly believes in the power of student engagement in their own learning. Scoil Chonglais was described as a progressive school in its most recent Whole School Evaluation: Management Leadership and Learning Report, so she is looking forward to continuing to lead the great work already underway there.

Patricia also believes in the value of Lifelong Learning, and graduated with a first class honours Masters of Education Degree from NUI Maynooth in 2003. She hopes to pursue further studies in the future.
