On Monday, 16th January 2017, KWETB’s Further Education and Training Team came together to commence the planning process for the FET Service Plan 2017. The planning seminar was an opportunity for all those working in senior roles in FET to reflect on the 2016 programme and to identify priorities for 2017. The Director of Further Education and Training, Caitriona Murphy, opened the seminar and welcomed those attending. The Chief Executive, Sean Ashe, gave the keynote speech focussing on growth and development in the FET sector. The members of the FET Management Team, Eileen Cullen, Brenda Lynch and Catherine Byrne, presented a review of career cluster provision in 2016 and identified key expected outcomes for 2017. Caitriona Murphy and Brenda Lynch gave an overview of the SOLAS Parameters and Requirements. Each area group then commenced their planning with facilitation from members of the group.

The evaluation of the seminar was extremely positive and the quality area plans which were submitted two weeks after the seminar were of an extremely high quality. The 2017 FET Service Plan and budget was submitted to SOLAS in March and will be sent for approval to the SOLAS Board in April.
