The Best Coaching Style
Upon observing the swim meets I observed two sporting events, and what I concluded was that the best coaching style for swimmers who are in senior age divisions is a business style coach with a democratic approach.
I say this because a professional coach is one who can hold enough composure and be friendly to their respective players.
A democratic coach is useful because a coach can involve their pupils in team decisions, rather than making all the choices on their own. Even senior students enjoy making decisions as a team.
Coaching Swim Teams
In the sporting event I observed, I noticed that the swimmers would meet up and talk together even though they were in separate divisions, they met up with their coach and developped strategies before swimming.
Looking at them, you could see that their coach was listening, and still gave direction, not allowing their players to walk all over them. This approach proved to be successful, as many of the swimmers went on to win many gold medals.
The swim coaches there had many different coaching styles. Although there were many different coaching styles, the democratic approach to the business style coach. A business style coach will still be able to associate with their pupils, while coaching them and instructing them professionally.
Upon interviewing two coaches, it helpedto show me the validility of my thesis because even though they were different age groups, and sports, it showed that younger students need a friendlier coach, while older students need a bit of authority, but at the same time are still children and require involvement in team decisions.
The best coaching style? That's debatable. It really does attain to the particular sport. You wouldn't want to be an intense and abusive coach to a soccer team of three year olds, but at the same time, you have to show authority when coaching a professional hockey team, excluding any "potty breaks" or popsicles from their regime.
For a senior level swim team , it is reasonable to assume that they are still children, and therefore still need kindness, however, a senior level team needs instruction. Business stle coach is the most appropriate.
