But news is mostly produced for adults; it can be scary and gruesome and sometimes dull, and appropriate for kids aged 7-12. Beyond just making the vocabulary accessible, we provide context for everything in each news story, so kids can understand what’s going on, and things that have to do with anything they’re interested in. Kids who can read have wings, they learn new skills, explore new worlds, build new ideas, and change the world. especially for children. But they shouldn’t be cut off. We think it’s incredibly important we help ease them into life by arming them with the knowledge they need to thrive in a why. We encourage kids to think critically not only about the story itself, but about the way the story is presented. Does the journalist have a bias?
