SHELTON STATE SUMMER DANCE INTENSIVE
The Shelton State Dance Program is excited to announce the return of the Summer Dance Intensive June 10 through June 14 , 2023 . The Dance Intensive is designed to address the needs of students ages 14 – 18 and prepare them for embarking on their future dance journey . The Summer Dance Intensive is comprised of learning various dance styles and techniques . Students will perform what they learn for family , friends , and community members at a final showcase on Friday , June 14 at 11:00 a . m .
The registration deadline is May 17 , 2024 . Students must arrive at the Shelton State Dance Studio ( Martin Room 1902 ) at 8:00 a . m . for beginner-level students and at 1:00 p . m . for intermediate / advanced-level students . THEATRE TUSCALOOSA ’ S PROJECT BROADWAY
June 10 – 14 , 2024 1:00 p . m .– 5:00 p . m . Daily Theatre Tuscaloosa will host Project Broadway , a summer intensive workshop for teens in which theatre professionals work side-byside with participants to craft a unique Broadway-style musical that they write , rehearse , and perform in just one week in the Sandra Hall Ray Fine Arts Center at Shelton State Community College .
During Project Broadway , “ Sister Act ” director Stephen Tyler Davis will lead a team of theatre pros ( including Broadway performer Jake Boyd , Executive Producer Tina Turley , “ Sister Act ” star Shannon Dionne , and musical director & “ Mamma Mia !” star Jamie Shannon Ferguson Ertle ) to work directly with teen participants to craft a unique musical theatre performance in just one week . Project Broadway takes actors a step beyond a traditional musical theatre camp , encouraging each student to discover their own voice , connect , collaborate , and make a new Broadway-style performance project through the collective creative process .
Project Broadway will meet June 10-14 in the Sandra Hall Ray Fine Arts Center at Shelton State Community College from 1:00 p . m . to 5:00 p . m . each day , and a final performance will be offered to the public on Friday , June 14 , at 6:00 p . m . in the Bean-Brown Theatre . Participants must be 13 to 19 years old by June 10 . Enrollment is limited to a maximum of 40 participants . Tuition for Project Broadway is $ 300 , which includes two tickets to the final performance and a participant t-shirt . Register prior to May 5 to take advantage of our 10 % early bird discount !
