The focus is on building the capacity with the awareness of " having the capacity ". To build capacity , you need a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility , Labor , raw materials . Raw materials , India is already in the lead when it comes to export of such materials . There is just a need to focus on also serving the Indian market . The next big questions comes after considering the two points - The Setup and labor . Setup , only few would like to delve into this industry at such a nascent stage , then what about the small MSME ' s who depend on this industry ? And labor we have , with need for skill development . By the way , who is going to do the bidding for skill development ?
That ' s where Carl Zeiss India feels , they can do their best to take this industry forward to the vision the Toy leaders are looking for , with the boost that is needed with their technologies . They have proven in silos to such individual toy manufacturers how their technologies can support to speed track the toy development , shown how global toys can be replicated and demonstrated on how the quality can be maintained , to be the best . Through this initiative , they have opened their technology centers for the development of the toys , so that manufacturers who are not yet ready to buy these technologies , can use their pay-per-use setup in Pune , Chennai , Bangalore , Coimbatore , and Delhi to develop their Toys and begin their journey to manufacture toys for India and the world . They will train manufacturer ’ s team in these centers with their Academic programs on not just how to operate these technologies but many other training programs they have , when it comes to manufacturing quality .
They would like to bring the latest technology that can support the industry to begin with the " Strongest foot forward " and achieve their ambition when it comes to " Vocal for local toys ".
Manoj Sundaram , Head Industrial Quality Solutions at Carl Zeiss feels that their company can support Indian Toy manufacturers in multiple areas . He said “ 80 % of toys are imported and a majority of these are Chinese imports . Catering to local consumption is first opportunity . Our share of the export market is negligible and has a big upside . Bringing up the export market share is second opportunity . The nonavailability of Large players ( 3 % of companies in Toy industry ) to channelize the industry demand and visibility is a key element . Government has been pushing Toy industry to move from wood work dominated toy industry to more techno stuff . This also needs an ecosystem around embedded low cost electronics , Die and mould making and Skilled manpower . We are open to supporting the Toy industry in Reverse engineering of external form & Internal precision assembly on a pay per use basis . SKILL Development and training is another area where we can train measurement technicians at our offices .”
