integrated online magazine “Spirit of Play” delivers
expert knowledge on a daily basis. The second print
edition of the magazine is due to appear in November
and will be sent to 53,000 potential trade visitors. The
Spielwarenmesse is also active on all conventional
social media channels 365 days per year, keeping the
industry in the know, day in, day out.
SPECIAL AREAS FOR DIFFERENT TARGET GROUPS
The more structured the preparation, the more
successful the result. Three special shows target
specific visitor groups and are set in easily accessible
locations. “Toys meet Books” celebrates its debut in
2018. Situated in a busy spot, close to Entrance Mitte,
the exhibitors introduce booksellers mainly from
Germany, Austria and Switzerland to the exciting
world of toys. The new concept is rounded off with
talks, a Product Guide and guided tours. Following
their successful launch in 2017, the two Special Areas
Tech2Play and Baby & Infant Articles are to be
continued. The Tech2Play activity area in Hall 4A is
devoted to electronic toys in four revised categories:
“Robot Toys”, “Virtual Play”, “RC Toys” and “Electronic
Learning”. The Special Area for Baby and Infant
Articles between Halls 2 and 3 provides plenty of
inspiration for additional ranges designed for our
youngest members of society.
knowledge for retailers is provided by high-calibre
speakers at the Toy Business Forum. Also located
within the TrendGallery, the Forum focuses on a
different theme every day.
MEETING SPACE FOR LICENSING
In 2018, the Spielwarenmesse will continue to be a
valuable source of information for licensing. Be it
through Walking Acts, the signposting of licensed
products in the TrendGallery or the presence of
reputed licensors, trade visitors receive a broad and
international overview of this lucrative sector. The
offering also encompasses the fair’s long-term
partnership with LIMA. Located in the foyer of Hall

Merchandisers’ Association is an important hub for
licensees and licensors. To help with navigation, the
Spielwarenmesse is creating a dedicated landing
page on its website, which delivers editorial content
on the topic of licences whilst highlighting relevant
stands in the Licensing Guide.
Ernst Kick, CEO of Spielwarenmesse eG, states:
“We wish to ensure that our exhibitors and visitors all
leave Nuremberg with plenty of positive experiences
and are able to launch into the new year feeling well
prepared and properly equipped. This is why our
preparations are already running at full speed and
we’re fully focused on the Spielwarenmesse 2018.”

HALL 3A – A CENTRAL HUB
Innovation-driven trade buyers put aside an extra
portion of time for Hall 3A, which is home, among
others, to the roughly 1,000m² TrendGallery.
Appearing in a new design, the TrendGallery gives
visitors the opportunity to gain their bearings in the
dense jungle of products. The three overriding trends
identified by the ten globally active members of the
TrendCommittee, are brought to life by corresponding
products. The TrendGallery also spotlights the
nominees and winners of the ToyAwards, which cover
four age-specific categories. Next door, young and
innovative German companies and first-time
participants at the New Exhibitor Center will be a
source of yet more ideas as buyers go in search of
exciting innovations. Practical expertise and hands-on
