School Rules of Grimsby Secondary
There are many reasons why school rules are necessary and students are permitted to follow these rules. First of all, school rules are implemented to create safety and promote good behaviour among students. Also, school rules are made to maintain a good image of the school and they create expectations for students. Without rules at school, students would not be able to get in the habit of behaving and following rules for the future. School rules prepare students for the challenges that they might come across in society because they distinguish between the rights and wrongs or the acceptable and the unacceptable. School rules teaches students how important it is to not indulge in poor choices. A lot of school rules are made to protect student’s safety. For example, a simple rule like “do not run in the halls” can prevent someone from being badly injured. School rules are important in order to show respect and have a good reputation not only seen by teachers, but also from the community.
Rules of GSS:
1.)No food or drink allowed in the computer labs. I feel that is rule is necessary because if you are hungry or need a drink (other than water), you can go out into the hall and eat or drink quickly. I think that this rule is important because if a student spills juice on the keyboard or any other part of the computer, it will most likely break it. Also, there shouldn’t be food near the computers because that could wreck them as well and make an unnecessary mess. However, I believe that water should be permitted in any part of the school because everyone needs water and it doesn’t really harm anything, as long as they are careful with it to not spill on the computers.
2.)No bags allowed in the computer labs. I feel that this rule is not necessary because the majority of students in the school always carry their backpacks around with them at all times so that they always have the necessary supplies for each class. Therefore, there is no harm in bringing a backpack into the labs since they are simply a requirement for most students in order to be ready to learn. If they are put aside or not in the way of others, I don’t see this being a significant rule.
