What do you think teens are consumed with these days?

Teens are totally consumed in relationships these days, and sometimes it can get out of hand. I interviewed 5 of my friends who are currently dating to see how consumed they really are with their relationship.

Question: If you had a crazy amount of homework to do one night, but your boyfriend/girlfriend asked you to hangout, what would you choose?

Brooke – I would obviously go hangout with my boyfriend, my homework can wait. If he wants to hangout, I would feel bad saying no, especially because it sounds totally lame if I blew him off for homework.

James – I would much rather be hanging out with my girl then doing homework that I don’t care about at home, so I would say yes and go with her. Is that even a question?

Michelle – Well, if I knew I had to get it done and it was a lot of work, I would just tell my boyfriend that I can’t that night because I have too much for school to do. We have lots of other nights where we can hangout, and school should come first anyways.

Danny – I don’t really do homework anyways, so I would go hangout with my girlfriend in a second.

Jessica – I can do the homework when I get home from hanging out with my boyfriend, I don’t usually start homework until late at night anyways. If there is a crazy amount like you said, I probably wouldn’t finish it even if I didn’t hang out with him because I’m a procrastinator, so I might as well just go.

Here, we can see that 4 out of the 5 people I asked this question to said they would skip the homework and go hangout with their “significant other”, those people being Brooke, Danny, James, and Jessica. The other one, Michelle, probably made the better choice and said she would stay home and finish her homework because there are other days where her and her boyfriend can hangout. This shows that the majority of teenagers are completely consumed with their relationships that they don’t care about their education. Hopefully, teens realize that school is more important than a boyfriend/girlfriend.
